DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality

"DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality" is the UN's theme for International Women's Day (IWD) which is taking place on 8th March 2023. This theme seeks to recognise and honour the contributions made by women and girls to technology and online education.

This year's IWD will also look at the impact of the digital gender gap on inequality for women and girls; the UN estimates that women's lack of access to the online world would cost low and middle-income nations $1.5 trillion in GDP by 2025 if nothing is done.

So in light of this year’s IWD theme, we asked the inspirational women across Oliver Parks, who work within the technology sector and with technology professionals day in and day out, how they think technology and access to the online world can help gender equality:

Katja Dolan - Manager

“Women's ability to earn money as well as their health and welfare can be transformed by digital technologies. Women can become positive influencers by using social media applications. It can act as a medium to share information, to raise the voice of women who are limited in their ability to express themselves, and for business owners to find clients and investors by establishing professional connections.”

Lindy Mo - Principal Associate

“I believe technology can help to overcome and bridge gender inequality and promote gender equality since it allows parents, especially mothers to work from home and align work with family. Women won’t necessarily need to choose between family and career and with the necessary support they can have both.”

Aleksandra Krajewska - Associate

“Democratisation of access to education and work in the age of technology is greatly increasing the quality of women’s lives across the globe! Remote work is especially good for working parents who want to dedicate themselves to family and work without compromises.”
