We sat down for 5 minutes with Manager of our Finnish team Katja Dolan to talk about major market developments that she’s noticed in 2022. From the most in-demand job titles to what to expect in an interview process. Here’s the lowdown.
What have you found your candidates are looking for most in their next role?
“They are looking for something different, new things to learn and something meaningful where they can leave their mark or make a difference.”
What have you found are the major factors why people are considering a new role?
“The role is not what it was told in the beginning, they don’t have any career development opportunities within the company or they have gone and done as much as can in the current. Also hybrid working plays a big factor, if it’s not possible at their current role they will explore opportunities where it is.”
What job titles are the most in demand?
“Software designers and developers especially with Java, react, python.”
What is the standard interview process, has it changed in the past year?
“Usually it’s 2-3 rounds, hiring manager with HR, Tech interview or assignment, HR/ director. It’s changed this year so usually the first is a phone call or video, the second is video or face-to-face and the possible third is another face-to-face or video. Definitely, video calls are used in any interview process.”
What’s exciting about the Finnish market? What developments have you seen?
“There are lots of new start-ups, inhouse product development roles, and there is a lot more variety in roles. Development is more towards flexibility and the understanding of the demand of the market, as well as more English-speaking roles. Also, it is great to see that the pandemic has not stopped or slowed down our clients, it’s actually quite the opposite.”
Is there anything else you would like to highlight?
Finland is a very innovative market and there are lots of exciting IT opportunities and products which are globally known and they are very proud of being part of something like that. Im working with some brilliant roles for passionate people.
